Join a dynamic team making a real impact on public health in Calcasieu Parish! This position provides essential clerical support at the Lake Charles and Sulphur Health Units, assisting professional staff in delivering critical services across programs such as Reproductive Health, Immunizations, STD and TB care, WIC, HIV, Genetics, and Vital Records. You will interview and screen patients for program eligibility, schedule clinic visits, maintain records, and serve as a welcoming first point of contact for the public. This fast-paced role requires managing multiple tasks simultaneously, including data entry, chart preparation, fee collection, and responding to inquiries, while using a variety of electronic systems and software. Requirements

Two years of experience in administrative services.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

  • Provide clerical support for the following programs, including but not limited to Reproductive Health, Immunizations, Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD), Tuberculosis (TB), Women, Infant and Children Supplemental Food Program (WIC), HIV, Genetics Program, Child Special Health Services (CSHS) and Vital Records.
  • Answer/route telephone calls and greet visitors/clients.
  • Interview and screen patients, in person, according to financial status to determine program eligibility.
  • Assess and collect fees for services.
  • Data entry into multiple computer programs.
  • Schedule and maintain patient appointments for medical provider, to ensure patients follow-up according to nursing or medical plan.
  • Serve as Local Deputy Registrar of Vital Records to local Vital Records Registrar.
  • Issue certified copies of death certificates using pre-numbered banknotes in numerical order, ensure security and confidentiality of records and collects fees.
  • Responsible for pre- and post- clinic activities, such, preparing clinic forms posting patient charges, etc.
  • Attend staff meetings, required training sessions, and conferences.
  • Duties are performed under the supervision of the Administrative Supervisor 2 (AS-2).
  • Participate in all emergency preparedness, planning and exercises in order to rapidly mobilized and deployed at the Regional and/or State level following an event such as hurricane, nuclear, chemical, biological weapons of mass destruction, natural and/or man-made disaster.  Duties may be reassigned to accommodate Emergency Preparedness response activities. Performs duties assigned by the appropriate Incident Command (ICS) Staff Section Chief.
  • Meet and maintain requirements to be an authorized driver.
  • Ensure proper time entry and coding for payroll into LEO.  
  • Complete travel expense reimbursement requests via LEO.
  • Maintain knowledge of complex federal, state, and agency program policies for multiple health services.
  • Participate in community outreach events.
