As a Admin Support with Jefferson County Health department, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

STARTING SALARY $30,304.80

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. The use of wellness breaks during the workday is authorized to support this philosophy and assist employees in meeting their wellness goals. A maximum of 30-minutes in a given workday may be used to engage in wellness activities, generally in the form of two 15-minute breaks or one 30-minute break.

Requirements

Under direct supervision, applicant must work and communicate with the general public, internal and external customers. 
Applicant must be able to provide information and services targeted to meet the customer's expectations.
Applicant will be trained to perform general administrative duties for various health department programs. 
The programs include Family Planning, Women's Health, BCCP, Sexual Health, Immunizations, Tuberculosis, Vital Records and
Environmental Health.
Employee will schedule appointments, answer office phone, transfer calls, take messages, fax, scan and make medical record entries. 
Employee will be responsible for sharing and communicating content with other members of team.
Applicant will be crossed trained to fill in when other employees are at lunch, break and absences.
Applicant will abide by HIPPA at all times.
Employee will be trained to work with M &M, Grits and other computer applications.
All public health employees are required to respond and participate in the event of pandemic or emergency response. This could include overnight sheltering and travel.
Employee will be responsible for annual training as deemed by Human Resources.

All East Central Health District 6 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with 2 years of general office or administrative experience.
Must have a valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
Must possess great customer service skills and phone etiquette at all times with customers and staff. Proficient in MS Office, Excel and other computer applications.
Experience working with medical records, billing and working in a busy medical office setting.
Possess good time management skills. 
Ability to complete work in a timely manner.
Must be able to handle multiple projects and prioritize.

Primarily involves light physical work with minimal unusual working conditions. Examples include administrative roles, management, and HR specialists.

  DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
