As a Admin Assistant II within East Central Public Health District, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner and leaders encourages all employees to engage in regular wellness activities and to make lifestyle choices that promote health and well-being. Requirements

Purchasing: Work in  Docusign and with district accounting staff to purchase items needed for the
Health department such as general supplies and pharmaceuticals.
Billing Duties: Review Service slips daily. 
Bill services to Medicaid and commercial insurances weekly. 
Check on insurance sites for payments and post payments daily. Complete billing summary
report monthly. 
Attend monthly billing meetings.
Supervisor Duties: Supervision of Clerical staff at Jefferson County. 
Approve Leave and time sheets for clerical staff.
Keep clerical staff advised of billing changes.
BCCP
Invoice for Clients seen in BCCP program.
Receive mammography bill and send to district.
General Admin Support Duties- Schedule clients, post payments, check insurances, answer HD phone.
Work with birth and death certificates. - * These duties will be performed on an as needed basis and
as back up when admin support staff is out of office due to vacation, illness and daily for lunch break
relief.
Other duties:
Daily bank deposits for clinic.
Daily Post Office pick up.
Accounts Receivable - depositing physical checks that come via USPS.
Responsible for shipping labs for HD.
Board of Health Secretary- attend quarterly BOH meetings; complete and post BOH minutes. 
Other duties as assigned.

All East Central Health District 6 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event including but not limited to: staffing a shelter, working at a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or working at a Point of Dispensing site (POD). If you are called on to participate, you are required to report to the designated site as a condition of employment, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.


Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of  job-related experience; or one year of experience
required at the lower level Admin Assistant 1 or position equivalent. 2 years of college/tech school desired but not
required.

Preferred Qualification

2 years of Public Health experience required

2 years of MD office experience- desired

General knowledge and understanding of insurance billing for state and private agencies.


Under the pre-employment fitness-for-duty this position is considered a

  • Category 1: Sedentary:

Primarily involves light physical work with minimal unusual working conditions. Examples include administrative roles, management, and HR specialists.

 Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
  
  DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
