Our mission is to improve the quality of life for citizens of Acadiana who have behavioral health and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities.

We’re looking for an Accountant to join our team and assist our Chief Fiscal Officer, CEO with the financial management of the District which is comprised of five physical sites (Crowley Behavioral Health, Ville Platte Behavioral Health, Opelousas Behavioral Health, New Iberia Behavioral Health and the Tyler Behavioral Health Clinic) within a seven (7) parish area.

Requirements

Six years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus one year of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

As an Accountant, you will perform, direct, and coordinate various accounting functions for the agency at the professional advanced journeyman level in reference to the agency budget, revenue, expenditures, and agency receivable/payable accounts.  In this role, some of the duties are to:  

  • Prepare financial statements, fiscal reports, and revenue reports
  • Analyze fiscal information from various sources/records (Agency, LAGOV, etc.)
  • Serves as a technical specialist for program areas performing advanced activities in web-based programs such as LaGov, State Procurement Electronic System, AssetWorks, Capital Outlay Request Tracking System (eCORTS), Electronic Card Payment Management Service (WORKS), etc, which require advanced knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Have the ability to interpret and understand policies and procedures, and be able to apply approved accounting principles and methodologies to ensure accuracy of financial records and valid use and distribution of pertinent funds
  • Maintain knowledge of the purchasing rules and regulations and all applicable executive orders and statutes governing procurements.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
