Step into a high-impact fiscal leadership role that helps safeguard vital federal funding for Louisiana’s most important assistance programs. As an Accountant 1-4, you’ll serve as the technical expert for federal drawdowns and reconciliation for SNAP and DDS grants, playing a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness under LDH’s centralized fiscal structure.

In this role, you’ll work with major federal systems, lead complex reconciliations and variance analyses, support audits, and help resolve high-level discrepancies tied to significant funding streams. You’ll also partner closely with leadership, interpret evolving federal fiscal requirements, and mentor junior staff while helping build standardized tools and procedures. If you’re a detail-driven fiscal professional who enjoys solving complex problems and wants your expertise to directly support essential public programs, this is a role where your work truly matters!

Requirements

Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR

A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting; OR

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics; OR

An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics; OR

Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

  • Prepare and process SNAP and DDS federal drawdowns in PMS, ASAP, and other portals.
  • Verify alignment between draws and reported expenditures.
  • Coordinate with AM1 and AM2 to ensure timely cash flow.
  • Reconcile drawdowns to grant expenditures in LaGov. Identify, investigate, and resolve variances. Maintain documentation for audit readiness and support financial transparency.
  • Assist the Account Manager 1with preparing and validating various Fiscal reports.
  • Monitor grant activity to ensure allowable costs, proper budget execution, and internal control compliance. Support the development of procedures and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical assistance on drawdowns, reconciliation, and reporting systems. Assist in developing job aids and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with federal grant or SNAP/DDS program reporting
  • Proficiency with financial systems (LaGov) and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information
  • Detail-oriented, self-directed, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment

Compensation:  This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates (SER):

Accountant 1 - $21.63 hr / $1,730.40 bi-weekly

Accountant 2 - $23.14 hr / $1,851.20 bi-weekly

Accountant 3 - $26.50 hr / $2,120.00 bi-weekly

Accountant 4 – 30.35 hr / $2,428.00 bi-weekly
