Public Health Educator I

The Division of Public Health promotes disease prevention, health services and health promotion programs that protect communities from communicable diseases, epidemics and contaminated food and water.

This position serves as the WISEWOMAN Program Coordinator for the WISEWOMAN Program within the Cancer Prevention and Control Branch. This position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, administering and directing activities related to the lifestyle and behavior change component of the WISEWOMAN Program. The position will also be responsible for developing and maintaining partnerships to support physical activity, healthy food choices, smoking cessation, and the elimination of second-hand smoke. The position will provide technical assistance an consultation to local service providers in the delivery of activities to build and/or strengthen community-clinical linkages to community-based lifestyles programs and services that promote self-management of healthy behaviors and/or chronic disease in the target population.

Requirements

  • Experience with the current findings in chronic disease as well as public health principles, standards and practices,

  • Experience in Program management

  • Knowledge of Public Health Administration. 

  • Experience in delivering presentations to professionals.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Public Health Education or Public Health with a major in public health education from an appropriately accredited institution; or Bachelor’s degree with a major in health education from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in public health education or a related field; or Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in public health education; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
