Trades Apprentice / Maintenance Repairer 1 - 2

The mission of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center is to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to reach treatment goals and to return to more integrated community living settings. Pinecrest Supports and Services Center specializes in the treatment of people with comorbid intellectual and developmental disabilities and complex medical, behavioral, and psychiatric support needs.


Pinecrest Supports & Services Center (PSSC) is seeking a dedicated Trades Apprentice / Maintenance Repairer to join our Facilities Team—a hands-on, dependable crew that keeps our buildings and equipment in top shape to support our organization’s mission. In this role, you’ll assist experienced tradespeople with repairs, maintenance tasks, and installations across a range of systems. You’ll gain valuable skills while working on real-world projects and play an important part in keeping our operations running smoothly and safely.

Job Duties:

  •  Plumbing:   Repair and install commodes, lavatories, water fountains, and garbage disposals.  Unstop sewer lines and drains, repair leaks, and repair / replace faucets.
  • Electrical:   Repair light bulbs.  Repair / replace ballasts, receptacles, switches, and fans.  Replace motors, pumps, etc.
  • Appliance Repair:  Repair washing machines, dryers, ice machines, and refrigerators.
  • Carpentry:   Repair doors, door closers, hinges, cabinet doors, knobs, baseboards, cabinets, furniture, door stops, windows, etc.
  • Refrigeration:  Performs preventive maintenance and maintenance on a/c units and air handlers.   Clean coils; work on pumps to air handlers, motors, chill water valves, controls, belts, and filters.
  •  Keep a check on hot water temperatures and maintain a log.
  • Run and service generators, and maintain a log.  Inspects fire extinguishers monthly and maintains a log.

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: This position may be filled by Detail, Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Lateral Transfer. Preference may be given to permanent classified employees of Pinecrest Supports and Services Center.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a trades apprentice, maintenance repairer 1, or maintenance repairer 2.

Work Schedule:

Shift: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Pass Days: Saturday and Sunday 

Shift: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Pass Days: Sunday and Monday

Compensation: Depends on Qualifications

Location: PINECREST SUPPORTS & SERVICES CENTER.
