Staff Physician/Pediatrician

Position Summary
Public Health - Seattle & King County is seeking two (2) Staff Physicians to work as-needed to provide direct care in its Community Health Services clinics.  Float Pool Staff Physicians/Pediatricians may work in any combination of programs that align with their skill set. This may include the Primary Care clinics in Seattle and Bellevue; the Mobile Medical Program serving people experiencing homelessness in Seattle and South King County; and the low-barrier buprenorphine Pathways Program in Seattle.  This is an excellent opportunity to work on a flexible schedule as part of a team that provides primary and/or addiction medicine care for multi-ethnic immigrant, vulnerable, and low-income populations.

Background
 
Short Term Temporary positions can work up to 900 hours per year. This recruitment will be open until filled, with application review taking part on a weekly basis.

Work Schedule These short-term temporary positions will work up to 28 hours per week. Work schedule will vary based on program needs.
 
Work Location These positions will work onsite out of the following locations:
  • Eastgate Public Health Center: 14350 SE Eastgate Way, Bellevue, WA 98007
  • Downtown Public Health Center Primary Care and the Buprenorphine Pathways Program: 2124 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121

Requirements

  • Diagnose and provide medical treatment to clients.
  • Educate and counsel clients on a broad scope of personal and health care issues.
  • Provide technical consultation to nursing staff for assigned work location.
  • Provide medical triage and patient care evaluation.
  • Document clinical evaluation, diagnosis, procedures, treatment, outcomes, referrals, and consultations.
  • Perform minor procedures and other duties as assigned within the position's scope.
  • Provide clinical education and supervision of resident and fellow physicians.
 

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following (Minimum): 
  • Washington State Medical License must be obtained prior to hiring.
  • A National Provider Identification (NPI) must be obtained prior to hiring.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration must be obtained prior to hiring.
  • Graduation from an accredited medical school and residency program.
  • Applicants must be board certified or board eligible. Individuals who are board certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine may be eligible to work in all Programs and locations. Applicants who are board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine with Addiction Medicine subspecialty are eligible to work in the Pathways program and/or MobileMedical Program. If not board certified, incumbents must become certified within 2 years of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams and a desire to work in a multidisciplinary team which includes physicians, nurses, social workers, residents and other providers.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and social justice.
  • Experience in managing chronic diseases and working with vulnerable patients with history of homelessness, behavioral health conditions, incarceration and substance use.
  • Knowledge of outpatient care, including medical diagnosis and treatment.
  • Knowledge of community resources and health service delivery systems.
  • Knowledge of medical records documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and improvement techniques.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in problem solving and triage decisions.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English
  • Experience providing medication treatment for opioid use disorder in low barrier outpatient setting, including use of long-acting injectable buprenorphine.
