COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST, Public Health
The Compliance Specialist will provide support to the Compliance Program by participating in activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance, and adherence to relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies.
Duties include elements of auditing, monitoring, records management, policy management, and workforce training.
The position is responsible for the administrative development and implementation of compliance tools, initiatives, and priorities.

Requirements
- Develops and revises training for review and approval by manager. Delivers both scheduled and ad-hoc compliance training.
- Develops and revises compliance policies and obtains manager review and approval prior to distribution to workforce members and publication to policy repository.
- Assists with other compliance program activities and initiatives as needed.
- Prepares written communications, assessment tools, and formal reports.
- Researches regulatory requirements and guidance. Provides and maintains documentation of topical research.
- Monitors compliance project timelines, resources, milestone achievements, and deliverables for assigned projects.
- Responds to external records requests and assists internal divisions on records requests.
- Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars and workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
- Conducts internal audits of program activities and business practices and, in response to internal audit findings, monitors corrective action plan tasks and remediation activities.
- Performs all other related duties as required.
Qualifications
TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher + Two (2) full-time years of work experience in healthcare compliance -OR-
TO APPLY, must have an Associate's degree + Four (4) full-time years of work experience in healthcare compliance -OR-
TO APPLY, must have a High School diploma or GED + Six (6) full-time years of work experience in healthcare compliance.
Note: Must show years of healthcare compliance experience in work history section of application or be disqualified.
Work experience with a multi-specialty healthcare organization or government entity is preferred.
Experience with the creation and delivery of compliance training is preferred.
Experience in Health Information Management (HIM), open records requests, and records management is preferred.
Experience with compliance investigations, audits and ongoing monitoring activities including the development and monitoring of corrective active plans, data collection and analysis, or other healthcare compliance-related activities preferred.
Experience with policy development, management, and delivery preferred.
Must be certified and in good standing within six (6) months of hire as one of the following: Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), or Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC).
Certification in a healthcare compliance-related specialty is preferred.
The Compliance Specialist position requires the ability to follow a structured schedule with minimal supervision and consistently meet delivery deadlines.
Specialist must possess the ability to write concise, detailed reports on a variety of topics.
Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate thoughts, ideas, information, and messages in a language, style, organization, and format appropriate to the subject matter, purpose, and audience.
Active listener and able to exercise sound professional judgment.
Capable of managing difficult conversations with sensitivity.
Ability to respond to confidential information with objectivity and discretion, while always demonstrating a high degree of integrity and ethical standards.
Proficient in spreadsheet, word processing, and email functions and adept at learning the use and function of new technologies required to perform the duties of the position.
