What You'll Do:

The Office of Management Information Systems administers the computer-based management systems across the ODH enterprise. The office is responsible for maintaining ODH computer networks and servers and the development and implementation of strategies that support current and future technology needs of the agency. We are seeking an experienced Software Development Specialist to work with business personnel to assure requirements are thoroughly defined and approved, develop software applications and perform system analysis and design. The required technology is Customer Relationship Manager (Salesforce). This position will:

  • independently work with business area personnel to assure requirements are thoroughly defined & approved 
  • develop software applications & perform analysis & design
  • collaborate with Office of Management Information Systems (OMIS) staff on system design reviews
  • perform code reviews & ensure agency application development standards are met (assuring software quality by following defined quality standard, processes & metrics)
  • serve as technical lead, as assigned: works with assigned OMIS staff to identify & document system software requirements; define problems & develop potential solutions; perform post production support for business applications which may include routine maintenance
  • read, write, extract &/or report from multiple sources (e.g., databases, file servers, data lake)
  • identify alternate courses of action pertaining to design & development; assist in
    review & evaluation of software development tools & methodologies (e.g., write & remediate)
  • create detailed test designs & test plans; create & reviews test data for performing test scenarios & regression testing; coordinate execution of unit & system test scripts, debugging efforts & defect tracking, support of user acceptance testing, & software implementation & deployment tasks; develop code to support automated testing
  • lead development, implementation & monitoring of IT quality assurance standards & testing; conduct performance testing, security scans (e.g., website, web-based programs) & load testing
  • write, review & coordinate documentation to support software development activities: assist with development of application-related training materials & software user guides, program &/or application source code documentation (e.g., uses cases, in-line code comments), departmental standards, appropriate standards & criteria for acceptable programming, documentation & review of application development lifecycle activities

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting. 

-Or completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting.

-Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above. Note: The official position description on file with the designated agency is to reflect the required, primary technology directly relating to the duties of the position. Only those applicants possessing the experience in the required, primary technology listed in the position description & job posting are to be considered for any vacancies posted. The job posting must list the required technology commensurate with the position in question.

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • Experience in the design, configuration and coding in Salesforce applications
  • Experience with Apex code development
  • Experience with SOQL and SOSL
  • Experience with Lightning Web Components ( LWC)
  • Experience as a lead worker or project lead
  • Experience working with customers to identify, interpret, design and analyze specific needs/requirements for application development

ALL ANSWERS TO THE SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONS MUST BE SUPPORTED BY THE WORK EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PROVIDED ON YOUR CIVIL SERVICE APPLICATION.

Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 35, Step 1 of the union (OCSEA) Pay Range Schedule ($38.84 per hour), with an opportunity for pay increase after six months ($40.78) of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.
