Why does the job exist?

 
Incumbent will have an obligation to manage its situations in such way that it minimizes any possibilities of injury to clients, staff and other persons visiting the premises as well as provide security, loss control, and protection to the New Mexico Behavior Health Institute at Las Vegas (NMBHI), Community Based Services (CBS), and San Miguel/Mora Mental Health Services.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbent will conduct searches of new admissions, clients, and visitors to prevent contraband from entering NMBHI. Check all buildings and ensure they are properly secured (all windows closed; doors locked and lights off during non-working hours) for NMBHI. As well as assist staff members with combative clients using CPI techniques and perform other related duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

 
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience in working with fire alarm systems.
Experience in checking fire extinguishers.
Experience with ten-code.

Eighth Grade Education.

Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Working Conditions

 
This position will perform work in both indoor and outdoor settings with exposure to potential hazards that may include but are not limited to, dealing with trespassers, vandals, and/or unruly clients. This position may require extended periods of walking and standing. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus.
