Research Scientist 5, G-31 - Biology
The Wadsworth Center, New York State Department of Health, is seeking a Research Scientist 5 to serve as the Wadsworth Center ‘s Clinical Laboratory Director. In this role, the Clinical Laboratory Director will oversee the operation and administration of the clinical laboratories located at three different sites in and around Albany, New York. Responsibilities include managing the employment of qualified personnel, ensuring proper delegation and performance of responsibilities, compliance with CLIA and New York State regulations, maintaining quality testing systems, and implementing a quality system approach to ensure accurate and reliable patient test results.
The Wadsworth Center (www.wadsworth.org) is the most comprehensive state-public-health laboratory in the country, and includes a dynamic research atmosphere focused on infectious, genetic, and environmental diseases and their impact on human health. Requirements
Minimum Qualifications: a doctorate in the natural sciences and three years of processional research experience in the appropriate field; or a master’s degree in a natural science and five years of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications: a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree, be licensed to practice in New York State, and be certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, or both by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology. Alternatively, hold an earned doctoral degree in a chemical, biological, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution and be certified and continue to be certified by a board approved by HHS. In addition, the incumbent must hold a New York State Certificate of Qualification (CQ) issued by the Clinical Laboratory Evaluation Program.
