Public Health Administrative Support Supervisor-Special Duty Assignment


*This position is open to current Career Service King County employees who have completed their initial probationary period*

Public Health – Seattle & King County is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Public Health Administrative Support Supervisor (PHASS) in a Special Duty Assignment (SDA) to supervise and support our North Dental Clinic which consists of administrative specialists, dental assistants, and provide oversight and supervisory guidance to other staff including dentists and insurance navigators. This position is based at the North Dental Public Health Center in Lake City and reports to the North Public Health Area Manager. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to provide supervision to staff who are on-site and work well in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

This vacancy is being filled as a Special Duty opportunity. For Special Duty Assignment interest, you must be a Career Service, Career Service Exempt or other regular (non-temporary) employee in King County who has completed their initial County probation. You must have supervisor approval prior to taking a Special Duty Assignment. This SDA is currently anticipated to last for 6 months.

Work Schedule

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, in person, on-site, no telecommuting. This position is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.


Work Location

North Seattle Dental Clinic, 12359 Lake City Way NE, Seattle, WA 98125, USA

Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. 


Requirements

  • Supervise and direct the work of assigned staff including hiring, training, performance evaluations and making recommendations on disciplinary actions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate staff onboarding, training, and education. 
  • Serve as the content expert for dental practices and processes for the North Dental Team.
  • Monitor patterns and adjust staffing to meet demand.
  • Schedule and assign staff (agency or float) and assign duties for the clinic sites to assure client needs are met.
  • Conduct quality improvement efforts with team members and partners throughout the department to ensure a high standard of service provision.
  • Contribute to development of protocols, policies, or patient materials.
  • Participate in strategic planning and site leadership as it relates to meeting goals for stable staffing and safe and efficient site operations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following (Minimum): 

  • Knowledge of supervisory techniques and principles (1 -2 years of experience).
  • Knowledge of team building techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with working with diverse communities.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Expertise in conflict resolution.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in guiding and instructing others on tasks and assignments.

The most competitive applicants will have the following experiences and qualifications (Desired): 

  • Knowledge of Dental Program Standards and protocols.
  • Knowledge or experience as a supervisor within Public Health-CHS Division.
