Requirements

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice psychology followed by two years of experience in psychological research, testing, or counseling.

This highly responsible position works within the office of the OBH Medical Director, and is responsible for providing direction to the complex systems of statewide forensic and inpatient programs. This includes the management of programmatic issues related to hospitals with which OBH has Cooperative Endeavor Agreements, Fast Louisiana Mental Health System (ELMHS) and Central Louisiana State hospital (CLSH), as well as monitoring, technical assistance and evaluation of a comprehensive behavioral health treatment system for adults as it relates to Mental Health Disorders for the state of Louisiana. Other duties include the administration of statewide programs which include: Oversight of compliance with the federal settlement agreement requirements 2) Direction of the statewide juvenile competency restoration program: 3) Direction of the statewide 648B civil commitment process: 4) Monitoring hospitals with LDH Cooperative Endeavor Agreements (CEAS) for compliance with the terns of the CEA: 5) Direction of CEA admissions process including determination of location and priority of placement; 6) Direction of the Continued Stay Review Process which reviews and authorizes additional bed days for individuals hospitalized in facilities with LDH CEAs 7) Monitoring the long-term state hed discharge process and review of clinical quality, safety and programmatic reports from the two site-owned and operated inpatient psychiatric hospitals (ELMHS and CLSH); 8) Assisting with juvenile cases involving the criminal justice system; 9) Monitoring petitions and orders for judicial commitments of patients in private hospitals throughout the state; and 8) Interfacing with other agencies, including DCES, OCDD, OAAS and the LGEs. Work is performed in accordance with the policies and regulations of all applicable licensing and governmental agencies. Statewide Travel is required.
