How does it get done?
- Monitor and control plant operations, including all machinery and building systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with operational schedules.
Preventive and Corrective Maintenance:
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment, identify technical issues, and perform necessary adjustments or minor repairs. Collaborate with maintenance teams for more extensive service needs.
Safety Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and enforce compliance among plant personnel. Participate in and support the implementation of safety training and emergency drills.
Coordination of Repairs and Projects:
- Schedule and coordinate with maintenance and capital improvement teams to facilitate repairs or upgrades while minimizing operational disruptions.
Log Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate operational logs and records. Track and report plant efficiency, system performance, and quality metrics. Communication and Team Collaboration:
- Maintain effective communication with internal teams and facility management, promptly reporting any operational issues or required interventions.
Inventory Oversight:
- Assist in managing inventory for critical spare parts and equipment, ensuring readiness and availability for maintenance activities.

Ideal Candidate
- familiarity with applications of building codes and regulations, basic electrical, plumbing, ventilation, and maintenance.
- demonstrate the ability to repair and maintain machines, mechanical equipment, building structures. Maintain tissue digester, effluent disinfection system, boilers, chillers; heating, cooling, ventilation and HEPA systems for office, laboratory, bio-safety level three, autopsy and necropsy spaces to regulate efficient operations
- may have HVAC Certification (MM-3), Mechanical License (MM-98) and General Building License (GB-98)
- have a NM Boiler Operator License (Journeyman Boiler Operator) (BO1, BO2) or be willing to obtain one
- demonstrate technical expertise to trouble shoot operational and mechanical problems and contact vendors to assess and properly provide routine and emergency services and repairs
- demonstrate the ability to maintain fiscal management; preparing purchase requests, creating annual budgets, establish purchasing contracts and approving invoices for payment.
- demonstrate the ability to listen effectively, clarify information as needed, and makes point of view in a clear and convincing manner
- demonstrate experience managing staff, providing training and technical assistance
- demonstrate the ability to collaborate professionally with a variety of personnel, from technical staff to senior level positions and Directors.

Employment Requirements
NM Boiler Operator License (Journeyman Boiler Operator) (BO1, BO2)
Capable of passing Department of Justice/Federal Bureau of Investigation (DOJ/FBI) security clearance for access to laboratories holding Select Agents, as defined by 42CFR73, ¿Possession, Use, and Transfer of Select Agents and Toxins¿. Must obtain Hepatitis B and Rabies vaccination, able to differentiate colors, use of sterile techniques, and good manual dexterity. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive a Defensive Driving Course certificate. In state and out of state travel may be required. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is required.
