This posting will be used for on-going recruitment and may close at any time. Applicant lists may be screened more than once. New Mexico Rehabilitation Center (NMRC) is a Joint Commission accredited specialty hospital providing rehabilitation services to citizens of the State of New Mexico.

Why does the job exist?

 
Serve as Physical Therapy Supervisor and to provide physical therapy services to patients while overseeing tech assignments in the department.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbent will work with individuals who suffer from physically disabling conditions. Incumbent will use treatment to develop functions and/or skills for their clients, as well as compensate or improve loss of function. Is responsible for providing physical therapy treatment of adult (18 and older) inpatients and outpatients, with occasional treatment of inpatients or outpatients younger than 18 within demonstrated competence.  Participates in discharge planning: initiating within a reasonable time, discussing goals with patients, families, physicians, and Center Staff as appropriate.  Arranges for equipment and/or home visits as appropriate.  Recommends necessary follow-up with referral to appropriate services.  Communicates effectively with departmental therapists and other appropriate team members about the patient's progress (or lack of) towards goals, and any possible need for adjustment to goals.

All patients referred to NMRC for Physical Therapy rehabilitation.

Ideal Candidate

 
Supervising a group of physical therapists; handling assessments, treatment planning, and treatment implementation; and knowledge of federal guidelines regarding physical therapy practices.

Minimum Qualification

 
Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of New Mexico and two (2) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements

 
This position is designated a safety sensitive. Must successfully complete post offer preemployment criminal records background check is conditional pending results of criminal background check. Employment is subject to preemployment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in a Rehabilitation Hospital setting, involving extended periods of walking, sitting, standing, and bending. Exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
