Pharmacy Technician- Utah State Hospital

The Utah State Hospital pharmacy is seeking 2 Full Time, dedicated professionals to join our team, 1 Full Time benefitted and 1 Time Limited (TL). Responsibilities

  • Process electronic medication reorders and floor stock requests. 

  • Dispense medications for new orders, reorders, and floor stock. 

  • Maintain and operate automated dispensing machine. 

  • Answer telephone calls and emails to pharmacy. 

  • Process and file pharmacy documents. 

  • Deliver medications and supplies to hospital treatment units. 

  • Order and maintain inventory of drugs, controlled substances, and other pharmaceutical products and ensure their security. 

  • Clean, sterilize, and/or disinfect work areas and/or equipment. 

  • Assist pharmacists in other duties as assigned. 


Minimum Qualifications  

  • Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Technician with the Utah Division of Occupational Professional Licensing (DOPL)

Supplemental Information

  • Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, e.g. working at great heights, working in extreme outdoor weather conditions, being subject to possible physical attack, etc. 

  • Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time. 

  • The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, lifting cassettes which weigh about 30 lbs. and assisting the Pharmacist in the day-to-day operation of the pharmacy. 

  • Department of Human Resource Management rules and Department of Health and Human Services policies regarding promotions and transfers apply to current employees.

  • The Utah State Hospital is a smoke free environment.  No tobacco use is allowed on campus.  

  • USH employees must pass both pre-employment and routine background checks.
