As an Advanced Practice RN within the Living Bridge at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Location: The Living Bridge in Gainesville, GA.

Requirements

Under broad supervision, performs advanced nursing functions and healthcare services in specialized areas. Operates under a written nurse protocol agreement with their delegating physician, conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels clients. May prescribe medication in some cases.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Examines clients to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Administers and orders diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and laboratory tests.
  • Instructs and counsels clients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
  • Makes tentative diagnoses and decisions about the management and treatment of clients.
  • Obtains, compiles, and records client medical data, including health history, progress notes, and results of physical examination.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, wound care, and infection management.
  • Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval.
  • Develops a comprehensive plan of care.
  • Visits and observes clients on hospital rounds or house calls. Updates charts, orders therapy and reports back to physician.
  • Reviews and develops nurse protocols for use by other nurses.
  • Serves as a mentor and/or preceptor for other APRN's. 
  • Assists with the development, implementation, and/or evaluation of nursing or program policies and procedures.
  • May work in specialized area (e.g. HIV and/or Emergency Preparedness).
  • May supervise assigned staff
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.   

Qualifications

Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certification in the specialty area(s) approved by Georgia Board of Nursing and four (4) years of nursing experience and Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse and Georgia license as a APRN and current certification in specialty area and CPR certification. 
OR
Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level PH Advanced Practice RN 2 (HCP201) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HIV/AIDS medical care.
  • Experience working with Ryan White clinics/patients.
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks HER systems.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.


CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
