What You'll Do:

Manage the Office of Project Management projects and sub-projects that support the strategic objectives of ODH and whose primary stakeholders are executives and local organizations/individuals (e.g., local health departments). Direct, coordinate and guide assigned projects relating to the Office of Project Management project portfolio that cover all phases of project management. More duties include but not limited to:

  • Supervise project management staff, including tasks such as assigning work and conducting performance reviews
  • Act as the key liaison across all functional areas and stakeholders (e.g., ODH Chief of Staff, agency senior management, Governance Steering Committee, and project review teams)
  • Maintain the ODH Project Portfolio and ensure standardization of policy implementation
  • Establish and direct project management policies and procedures
  • Evaluate business objectives and program scope
  • Support project prioritization, approval, and initiation processes
  • Ensure alignment of requested projects with ODH strategic priorities
  • Allocate project management resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Coordinate detailed project schedules, milestones, and track progress against established timelines
  • Ensure projects are well managed and adhere to appropriate standards & good practice.

The ideal candidate will have project management leadership experience, understanding of developing/managing budgets, policy development experience, and be proficient with issue resolution and risk management. 

Must have strong oral, written, critical thinking, and organizational skills. This position will require collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders.

Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. This is an exempt hourly position, with a pay range of 16 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule.

Qualifications

4 years experience in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with  position description on file AND 12 months experience in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.

-OR Successful completion of 2 years post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science/information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned AND 12 months experience in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects AND 12 months experience in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full scale implementation).

-OR 12 months experience as Project Manager 1, 63381 or IT Project Manager 1, 63384. 


-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Unless required by legislation, the selected candidate will begin at Pay Grade 16, Step 1 of the Exempt Pay Range Schedule ($45.45 per hour), with an opportunity for a pay increase ($47.99 per hour) after six months of satisfactory performance.
