Why does the job exist?

 
Incumbent will be assigned to pick up soiled linen to be laundered from all units throughout the campus of NMBHI.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbent will assist in the operation of the ironer by feeding individual linen pieces into the cross-folder machine to assure evenly pressed sheets and bedspreads.

Ideal Candidate

 
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience marking and sorting laundry to ensure accurate distribution to specific unit;
Experience with washing, drying, ironing, and distribution of clothing and linen as it relates;
Experience with sorting whites from colors and put into washers in even bundles as appropriate;
Experience with commercial laundry equipment.

Minimum Qualification

 
Eighth Grade Education.

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an institutional setting in the laundry area. Some standing, walking and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds without assistance and up to eighty (80) pounds with assistance may be required. Exposure to excessive humidity, wet slippery surfaces, steam operating machinery, high pressure air operated equipment, fumes, airborne particles and/or caustic chemicals is required. Environmental conditions are wet, humid and extremely hot with noise levels consistently loud due to laundry machinery. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus.
