Why does the job exist?

 
The purpose of this position is to provide supervision/management over all housekeeping operations within the Housekeeping Department as well as to provide custodial services in order to maintain an aesthetically pleasing and sanitary environment for patients, residents, visitors and staff.

How does it get done?

 
Incumbent will direct institutional housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions. Establish standards and procedures for work of housekeeping staff and plan work schedules to ensure adequate services. Instruct new hires and permanent employees in work procedures/methods, policies and procedures. Make rounds to inspect wards, offices, rooms, halls, bathrooms, windows, fixtures, floors, etc.

Ideal Candidate

 
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience performing routine janitorial services;
Experience cleaning various types of equipment;
Experience with working with the steps and precautions that need to be taken while dealing with hazardous waste; and
preparing requests to order supplies and equipment;
Experience with making inspection rounds.

Minimum Qualification

 
Eighth Grade Education

Employment Requirements

 
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in a hospital setting, long hours of standing, walking, bending, must be able to lift/move a minimum of 50 lbs, may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays and shift work.
