Why does the job exist?

 
This position will directly supervise custodial staff at a long-term care facility. Incumbent is responsible for designating work assignments and will inspect all assigned areas to ensure assignments are completed in a timely and orderly manner, as well as documenting the successful completion of assigned tasks. Incumbent will conduct ongoing training to staff in the proper use of chemicals, equipment and preventative.

Plan and prepare employee work schedules. 
Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner. 
Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards. 
Perform or assist with cleaning duties as necessary. 
Confer with staff to resolve performance and personnel problems, and to discuss company policies

Residents at a long-terms care facility.

Ideal Candidate

 
Will have:
The ability to provide customer and personal service
The ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, legs, and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
The ability to work independently guiding oneself with little supervision and depending on oneself to get things done.

Minimum Qualification

 
Eighth grade education.

Employment Requirements

 
Employment is subject to criminal background check pursuant to New Mexico Caregivers Criminal Screening Act (Sections 29-17-2 through 29-17-5 NMSA 1978 and 7.1.9.1 through 7.1.9.11 NMAC) and is conditional pending results

Working Conditions

 
Work is performed in an institutional setting both indoors and outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset people within the facility.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

State of New Mexico employees may be impacted by the Public Health Order dated December 19, 2022, which requires facilities licensed or certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), including all hospital types, long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospice facilities and rehabilitation facilities, as well as assisted living facilities and adult day care settings, to adhere to all COVID-related requirements prescribed by CMS, including, but not limited to masking and staff vaccination.

Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
Position may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and holidays.
