Facilities Support Services Assistant

This is an unpaid internship!


Key Objectives: 

As a part of their role, the intern will work alongside the Asset Manager at the Georgia Department of Public Health, providing support on a range of ongoing projects. The intern will have a multitude of different tasks to perform each day that may include Data Cleanup and Management, Data Reconciliation, Inventory Support, Policy Review and Updates, Fleet Management Assistance and Attendance at Facilities Meetings. This internship would not only provide valuable real-world experience for a student or recent graduate, but it would also help our agency meet critical goals and improve long-standing gaps in compliance and accountability.

Requirements

Duties: 

1. Data Cleanup and Management

  • Review and correct erroneous asset and location entries in the current asset management system
  • Assist with organizing and updating digital records to prepare for the Workday transition
  • Help establish consistent formats and guidelines for labeling and data entry to reduce future errors.

2. Data Reconciliation

  • Compare system data with physical records to identify and correct discrepancies
  • Assist in verifying and validating asset records across multiple locations
  • Support efforts to ensure vehicle and fleet records match state documentation and internal databases

3. Physical Inventory Support

  • Help coordinate and participate in inventory site visits at the state office and district locations
  • Document physical asset conditions, serial numbers, and location details
  • Assist in compiling a comprehensive and updated inventory list

4. Policy Review and Updates

  • Support the review of current Asset and Fleet Management policies
  • Conduct research to benchmark policies from comparable agencies
  • Assist in drafting updated policy language for internal review

5. Fleet Management Assistance

  • Help correct vehicle records by identifying incorrect assignments and updating locations and programs
  • Assist in compiling documentation needed to request or re-order missing vehicle titles

6. Miscellaneous

  • Attend Facilities meetings
  • Offer suggestions and recommendations to improve efficiency 

Qualifications

The Internship will be located in Downtown Atlanta at the Georgia Department of Public Health.
 
Internship positions allow flexible work schedules and the opportunity to work remotely, if available.
 
A Student Affiliation Agreement is required with a College or University to provide credit or practicum hours.
