What You Will Be Doing:
The Division of Public Assistance (DPA) has a statewide workflow management model to process benefit applications and paperwork. As an Eligibility Technician 2, you will contribute to the division's decision-making process regarding eligibility and workflow management. You will supervise a team of Eligibility Technician 1 positions and provide support through coaching, mentoring, and training using various methods. The team serves as the primary point of contact for clients across the state, leveraging your public assistance expertise and agency operations knowledge, you'll assign and review work while interpreting relevant policies. Additionally, you will serve as the primary point of contact for building and maintenance issues.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This position joins a statewide eligibility workflow team in local Public Assistance offices across the state.  The work location is in our Anchorage office located at: 4001 Ingra Street, Suite 131, Anchorage, AK 99503.

Requirements

One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska;

OR

One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
 
Substitution:
Post-secondary education in such fields as sociology, social work, psychology, counseling, human services, vocational rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, behavioral sciences, business, public administration, or accounting may substitute for the required experience (undergraduate credits: 2.67 semester/4 quarter hours = 1 month).

Qualifications

At the time of the interview, please provide the following:
  1. Three (3) professional references whom we may contact by phone, one (1) of whom must be your current or most recent supervisor, if not already provided in the application. 
  2. Last two (2) performance evaluations, if available.
  3. A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial is okay; please ensure that the institution name/URL is listed on the transcripts) is used to support that you meet the minimum qualification competencies.

EDUCATION

If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs or an accredited U.S. state university reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the state university. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. The omission of the required documentation listed will result in an incomplete application, and you will not receive further consideration.
