As an Admin Assistant at the Whitfield County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Healthyou will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.


Location: Whitfield County Health Department (Adult Health) in Dalton, GA.

Requirements

Under direct supervision, performs a variety of general secretarial, clerical, and administrative support functions/processes or a few specialized or essential clerical functions in support of a unit or office and related personnel. May enter data and/or process documents and records. The work includes operating standard office equipment. Work is performed under the close supervision of a clerical or administrative supervisor.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes tasks and assignments associated with administrative support functions (ie, licensure, personnel, purchasing, records management, inventory, or similar functions).
  • Provides clerical support such as incidental typing, filing, ordering supplies, and sorting mail.
  • Provides clerical support within assigned functional areas (ie, processing transactions, review of applications, scheduling training, scheduling facility maintenance, recording financial records, assessing/collecting fees for a service, and generating reports).
  • Provides general clerical support to an office, to include such tasks as data entry/maintenance, copying/distributing documents and materials, maintaining recordkeeping, filing systems, and etc.).  
  • Provides secretarial and administrative support to an upper-level manager.
  • Uses independent judgement and initiative to perform administrative, clerical, and secretarial duties in support of an individual employee or group of employees.
  • Receives additional training, as required, to gain full proficiency and experience in all areas.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED and ability to perform basic office functions and computer related duties.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical office experience.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.


CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.


All positions require criminal history record check. Required education credentials, license, certification and/or registration must be submitted prior to employment in the position. Some positions require pre-employment drug testing in which the applicant who is offered the position will be required to successfully complete.
