Software Development Specialist 1

Under the limited supervision of the Program Manager, the Software Development Specialist 1 (SDS1) will work within the enterprise application development team and participate in the design and development of software using J2EE technologies, including Java, Angular 7+, Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Typescript, and JavaScript.
This Position will participate in daily team meetings, write, and execute unit tests to ensure conformance with software requirements, analyze and support the development of the front end and database and assist in preparing documents including flow charts and user documents.
The ideal candidate for the position will be a collaborative team player who has proficient verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to produce a quality work product with minimal supervision. This position will both maintain existing software applications and support new development efforts using the above-noted technologies.
This position may be eligible to participate in the Department's pilot telework program, which offers eligible employees the opportunity to work remotely for up to two (2) days per week, as approved by management.

NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Five (5) years of professional experience in programming, systems programming or computer analysis.
OR Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above-mentioned professional experience.
OR Possession of a master's degree in an information technology field.
NOTE: "Professional experience" refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic
knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
LICENSE:
Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
