Under direction of the Communicable Disease Service (CDS), NJDOH will hire Epidemiologists who will be responsible for performing surveillance and research projects in support of COVID-19 prevention and response activities. These epidemiologists will work closely with the various groups within CDS to identify and research metrics to track the incidence and prevalence of COVID-19 in various settings throughout the state including healthcare facilities, long-term care facilities, schools, and other settings. They will design and implement specialized COVID-19 research and analytical projects and make recommendations to improve prevention and control measures. They will develop resource tools to assist in researching transmission risk for COVID19 and use the information gained to develop guidance documents with effective control measures. They will also develop tracking tools for interventions put in place to contain or address COVID-19 transmission. Reviews and analyzes all COVID-19 publications and other documents pertaining to current pandemic research developments and disseminates information to research staff. Prepares sound, accurate reports relating to research, grant, and other activities containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position.
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of full-time experience in a field appropriate to the position.
NOTE: A Doctorate in a discipline appropriate to the position may be substituted for two (2) years of experience indicated above.
LICENSE: Appointees will be required to possess a valid driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essentials duties of the position.
