Under the direction of the Director or Deputy Director of the program this position will serve as the Surveillance/Scientific Content Expert. Assists with the development of surveillance methodology, active surveillance of cancer incidence, and providing surveillance data to the public. Serves as team lead on cancer epidemiology research studies.

Conducts and assists with internal epidemiologic studies and analysts using program data. Functions as a scientific consultant in areas pertaining to scientific expertise by responding to inquiries from the public, health professionals, and public officials who are requesting data from the New Jersey State Cancer Registry (NJSCR). Responds to inquiries from research collaborators and the public and health professionals who are requesting Cancer Registry data. Supervises and mentors lower-level staff on epidemiologic methods and Cancer Epidemiology Services (CES) policies and procedures.

Contributes to national surveillance programs through North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR), Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER), and National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) program activities.

EDUCATION:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position.

EXPERIENCE:
Four (4) years of full-time experience in a field appropriate to the position.

NOTE: A Doctorate in a discipline appropriate to the position may be substituted for two (2) years of experience indicated above.

LICENSE:
Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
