Job Description:  The 1st Care RN is responsible for providing in-home assessments and education to families after an eligible infant is discharged from the hospital.   Under broad supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with 1st Care policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Daily travel is a requirement of this position.

 

District 4 Public Health is seeking Registered Nursing support for the following counties: Carroll/Troup. This position will require travel which will be reimbursed at the current State of Georgia mileage rates.

 

All District 4 Public Health, County BOH employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Requirements

  • Perform home visits and complete required documentation per the 1st Care Program guidelines to eligible infants and their families in assigned counties. 
    • Assess physical, developmental, emotional, and social needs of infants and their families as they relate to 1st Care Service Delivery.
    • Assists families in establishing goals and outcomes. 
    • Provide education, support, and referral resources in assisting families in attaining their targeted goals.
    • Consult and collaborate with other professionals involved in providing services for infants and families.
  • Perform Children 1st Assessments per the Children 1st Program guidelines for health departments in assigned counties.
  • Participate in community collaboration meetings in assigned counties.
  • Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds e.g., cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities.
  • Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
  • Assist with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
  • Use individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
  • Candidate must have valid, unexpired driver’s license.

Qualifications

PH Registered Nurse Level 1 - (Annual salary - $51,811.56)

 

Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification. 

 

 

PH Registered Nurse Level 2 - (Annual salary - $58,547.06)

 

Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification 

 

OR

 

Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year PHN experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license AND CPR certification.  

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department. 
  • Public Health Experience a plus.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English Speaking Language
