The Tennessee Department of Health's Division of FHW is hiring a Public Health Program Director 2 in Nashville, TN. The qualified candidate will serve as the director of the Department's Cessation Program and be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and overseeing tobacco and vaping cessation projects across the state.


Job Overview:

The Tennessee Department of Health's Division of FHW is hiring a Public Health Program Director 2 in Nashville, TN. The qualified candidate will serve as the director of the Department's Cessation Program and be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and overseeing tobacco and vaping cessation projects across the state.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts grant development, administration, and monitoring to ensure compliance with federal funding requirements.
  2. Provides subject matter expertise related to identification, implementation, and evaluation of tobacco and vaping cessation programs.
  3. Provides technical assistance to grantees and partners across the state that are delivering evidence-based tobacco and vape use cessation efforts.
  4. Communicates program procedures to staff and stakeholders.
  5. Oversees the development, execution, and monitoring of contracts.
  6. Participates in budget development and monitoring to ensure appropriate expenditure of funds.
  7. Develops and delivers training and orientation of new program staff.
  8. Collects and maintains accurate grantee data and other related statistical information for state and federal reporting.
  9. Plans and implements diverse professional development opportunities that meet grantee needs.
  10. Produces and disseminates tobacco control resources and materials and uses data to enhance community tobacco control program planning.
  11. Engages community stakeholders in tasks related to accomplishing goals and objectives of the Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to substantial (five or more years) of full-time increasingly responsible professional health program work, including at least two years of full-time supervisory work or statewide program oversight.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in a business or health-related field may be substituted, on a year-for-year basis, for one year of the required nonsupervisory experience.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Additional qualifying professional experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis, to a maximum of four years.
