PH Nurse Trainer

Under general supervision, provides technical assistance and training within a public health nursing care specialty. Manages the planning and implementation of a specialty nursing program. Evaluates programs for compliance with state and/or federal guidelines. Incumbant will facilitate new nurse training and precepting. Will also fill in at county health clinics as needed. Position will require travel through the district.
  All Coastal Health District, County Health Department employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.

Requirements

  • Supplement initial training by program managers.
  • Work with new nurses on-site at their clinics to enhance hands-on learning.
  • Provide additional training on VHN.
  • Work with State DPH Nurse Educator and CHD Training & Development Coordinator to ensure Exceed modules stay up to date.
  • Work with county nurse managers to prioritize more in-depth program training based on the clinic’s current needs. 
  • Tailor plans for new nurses who may only specialize in certain clinical programs.
  • Augment Nursing staff at district county health departments as needed.

Qualifications

Master's degree in nursing, public health or related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of PHN experience AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certified OR Bachelor's degree nursing from an accredited college or university AND Five years of PHN experience AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certified OR Two years of experience at the lower level PH Nursing Prog Consultant 1 (HCP210) or position equivalent AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certified.

Preferred: At least seven years of PH Nursing experience. Fours year prior training experience in clinical setting. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to multitask.For more information on the State of Georgia Benefits visit http://team.georgia.gov/
