As a PH LPN within the Cherokee County Department of Public Health at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Location: Cherokee County Health Department in Canton, GA.

Requirements

Under direct supervision, provides assistance to public health nurses and county programs. Provides care which includes providing medical treatments, administering medication and giving injections. This position will be assigned to specific clinical duties within the scope of an LPN practice in public health.

  • Processes patient medical intake for programs including but not limited to Family Planning, Women's Health, Breast & Cervical, STD, TB, Immunizations, Children's Health, and General Lab.
  • Collects, processes, and packages specimens for proper distribution to appropriate labs for testing.
  • Collaborates with laboratories to ensure timely reception of lab results and informs clinicians of any abnormal lab results to facilitate patient notification. 
  • Completes electronic charting of any vital signs, laboratory tests, or progress notes as well as any paper charting/forms in a timely manner.
  • Ensures all paper forms are properly scanned into the electronic medical records for individual patients. 
  • Maintains a clean and functional laboratory space and completes quality control on all laboratory tests to ensure compliance with CLIA regulations.
  • Manages supplies and ensures that orders are submitted in a timely manner when needed.
  • Participates in public health events and emergency exercises drills. This may include health fairs, mass flu vaccine clinics, and emergency response events for a real or drill-purposed event.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. 

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited LPN/ LVN School of Licensed Practical Nursing AND Current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse AND CPR certification AND Completion of all necessary orientation and training for Public Health LPN. No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual in English and Spanish.Employment Information
 
Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
 
CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
