PH Licensed Practical Nurse 1 or 2
Location: Cherokee County Health Department - Canton GA
Requirements
Under direct supervision, provides assistance to the public health nurses and county programs. Provides care which includes providing medical treatments, administering medication, and giving injections. Assigned to clinical duties within the scope of an LPN practice in public health.
- Provides direct patient care for clients in all programs including but not limited to: TB, Family Planning, Prenatal, Women's Health, Immunization, HIV, and STD by obtaining vital signs, and performing lab procedures such as venipuncture, finger sticks, and collecting specimens.
- Provides vaccines to all age groups.
- Maintains inventory and orders vaccines.
- Provides hearing and vision screenings to school aged children.
- Conducts yearly immunization audits of local daycares and schools.
- Participates in yearly emergency preparedness activities, vaccine clinics, and health fairs as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
PH LPN 1:
- Vocational/Technical degree in licensed practical nursing from an accredited college AND current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse ANS CPR certification AND completion of all necessary orientation and training for a Public Health LPN.
- No experience required.
- Two years of LPN public health experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse AND CPR certification.
- Public Health experience.
- Knowledge of vaccines.
Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.

Some positions require pre-employment drug testing in which the applicant who is offered the position will be required to successfully complete.
