Nurse 2 (Long-Term Non-Permanent-Tuberculosis Intervention Team, PCN 16N23069)

This position is currently located in Wasilla. The position may be in Anchorage, Bethel, Delta Junction, Fairbanks, Homer, Juneau, Kenai, Tok, Valdez or Wasilla, depending upon the location of the most qualified candidate.

Join our dynamic team, where you'll not only be a collaborator but a catalyst for positive change! This Nurse 2 role is multidimensional, aimed at optimizing client outcomes and controlling the spread of tuberculosis (TB) within Alaskan communities. This position plays a crucial role in controlling the spread of TB and the comprehensive management of individuals diagnosed with TB. In this role, you will coordinate care, provide client education, assess and monitor clients, collaborate with team members, and perform contact investigations in the field. In this role, you will have regular travel and work in remote locations up to 50% of the time.

You will primarily work from home, with periodic work from your local public health center or within communities, performing disease investigations.

**Travel to remote communities will be routine in this position. **

Requirements

Eligibility for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska;
AND EITHER
Successful completion of a formal training plan as a Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska;
OR
One year of entry-level experience as a Registered Nurse. Examples of this experience include but are not exclusively limited to prior service as a Nurse 1, Corrections Nurse 1, or Psychiatric Nurse 1 with the State of Alaska or its equivalent with another employer.
 
Substitution:
Combinations of prior training and experience as a Registered Nurse in other specializations of nursing care (e.g., Psychiatric, Corrections, Public Health, Critical Care, Surgical) will be evaluated for comparability on a case-by-case basis.
 
Special Note: 
Applicants who have or obtain a temporary permit issued under 12 AAC 44.320 may report for duty; however, the job offer will remain conditional for a timeframe not to exceed six months, pending the applicant showing proof of licensure during their initial probationary period.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to pass a background investigation, including fingerprinting, as a prerequisite to employment. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment.

Some positions may require the successful applicant to provide proof they are free from active pulmonary tuberculosis at the time of hire. Employees are required to be tested annually. These requirements will be indicated at the time of recruitment. 

Qualifications

At the time of the interview please provide the following, if not attached to your application:
  1. A copy of a current Registered Nurse License (from any state).
  2. Three (3) professional references whom we may contact by phone, one (1) of whom must be your current or most recent supervisor, if not already provided in the application.  
  3. A copy of academic transcripts (unofficial are okay; please ensure that the institution name/URL is listed on the transcripts) is used to verify that you meet the minimum qualifications. 
If chosen for the position, you will be required to provide the following items prior to employment:
  1. A copy of a current Alaska Registered Nurse license
  2. A copy of your current driver’s license.
  3. Valid CPR certification.
  4. Documentation of immunizations or immunity to the following:
    • a. Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap)
    • b. Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • c. Varicella.
  5. Hepatitis B documentation of complete series, lab confirmed immunity, or a signed declination for vaccination.
  6. Annual influenza vaccination or a signed declination statement.
  7. Tuberculosis screening record (a 2-step TST or IGRA blood test within 1 month PRIOR to start date).
