Medical Laboratory Assistant

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

  • Collects various fluid specimens from patients for laboratory analysis including blood, saliva, urine, and fecal samples.Advises patients of procedures to be administered and answers routine questions; enters patient information on required forms and into electronic health record.
  • Transports laboratory samples to and from clinic settings; prepares samples for delivery or shipment to other laboratories.
  • Performs limited and routine laboratory tests and procedures under the direction of a Medical Laboratory Technician or other medical practitioner. Documents any incident of exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
  • Provides courier service for satellite clinics.
  • Participates in on-boarding new staff and students.
  • Assists in preparedness and emergency response activities as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalency AND certification as a Phlebotomist plus one (1) year of work experience as a Phlebotomist, or similar position, in a health clinic or health care setting; or equivalent training and experience.

Additional Information

Minimally qualified applicants will start at 25% of the salary range: $18.62/hr

The candidate selected must undergo and pass a drug screening test prior to employment
