Are you a Clinical Psychologist fluent in both English and Spanish? If so, we want you! Join the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a Clinical Therapist at the Civil Commitment Unit for Sex Offenders (CCUSO). This full-time, 40-hour a week position not only offers stability but also a profound sense of purpose and growth opportunities within HHS.
 
At CCUSO, we are dedicated to providing state-of-the-art treatment to individuals who have been civilly committed as sexually violent predators. Our mission is clear: to lower the risk of re-offending and facilitate the release of patients from confinement through intensive therapeutic interventions.
 
As a Clinical Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in delivering professional therapeutic services aligned with the highest standards in the field of sex offender treatment. Your fluency in both English and Spanish is crucial in delivering professional therapeutic services that align with the highest standards in the field of sex offender treatment. Your responsibilities will include assessment, evaluation, behavior management, and counseling of individuals with mental abnormalities, all while adhering to the principles set by the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and CCUSO.
 
In addition to providing sex offender-specific counseling and therapy, you will be responsible for case management, crisis intervention, psycho-educational group facilitation, outreach activities, and accurate documentation of clinical services. You will also be required to obtain Iowa Board for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (IBTSA) Sex Offender Treatment Professional 1 (SOTP-1) certification within 3 years of your appointment.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university in a Master's Degree program with an emphasis in psychology, behavior analysis, or counseling.
