Clinical Dietitian

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to join the team at the Glenwood Resource Center which offers a continuum of care to Iowans experiencing intellectual disabilities. This is a full-time position with a Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm schedule, and opportunity for growth and development. 
 
The Glenwood Resource Center (GRC) will be closing as a state operated specialty care facility on June 30, 2024. This position will end at that time. Applicants are encouraged to apply to gain experience in the areas of working for state operated specialty care.
 
Job duties for this position include:
 
  • Ensure optimum nutritional care for clients with diverse needs, conduct individualized nutrition assessments, monitor therapeutic and enteral feedings, recommend, and implement menu changes, and provide nutritional education for clients and caregivers. 
  • Help plan and coordinate dietary services to assigned living units, evaluate food service at meal site, write specialized diets for clients with complex nutritional needs, and serve as a liaison between treatment team and Food and Nutrition services. 
  • Serve as nutritional consultant and advisor during professional staff meetings, provide guidance on assimilating nutritional goals into client's plan of care, and answer questions.
  • Complete administrative tasks including record-keeping to document nutritional therapy administered, communicate changes in dietary procedures, and other work as assigned.
 
GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, provides in home support for those who transition to the community, and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training, and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.

Requirements

899 Registered Dietitian 
Registered as a dietician by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Registration is given based on completion of requisite continuing education courses and payment of registration fees. When registered, the person is assigned an “R” number.

AND

890 Licensed Dietitian
6 months’ experience as a nutrition specialist who holds a license to practice dietetics and nutrition services.

Qualifications

License to practice as a Dietitian in the State of Iowa, as issued by the Iowa Board of Dietetic Examiners.
