Job Description: Under broad supervision, provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures. Focuses on the prevention of illness, injury, or disability, the promotion of health and maintenance of the health of populations. Cares for populations with special needs during disasters/emergencies and biological and chemical protocols.
All District 4 Public Health, County BOH employees are deemed essential employees in the event of an emergency. As such, you may be called on to participate in an event not limited to but including, staffing a shelter, a Specimen Point of Collection Site (SPOC) and/or Point of Dispensing site (POD). When you are called on to participate, you are expected and it will be a part of your job requirement to participate, whether the emergency occurs during or outside regular work hours.
Requirements
- Under supervision, provide professional nursing care in accordance with established nurse protocols, policies, and/or procedures.
- Provide comprehensive physical assessments for all ages and clinical programs.
- Function as an expanded role nurse providing patient care consistent with patient's level of need.
- Serve as patient advocate and refer patients to community partners or private physicians, when indicated.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Record to accurately document patient care and enter billing information for reimbursement.
- Administer and dispense medications and vaccines based on nursing assessment and according to established nurse protocol.
- Provide education to clients, families, and community partners.
- Incorporate strategies for interacting with persons from diverse backgrounds e.g. cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial, gender, age, ethnic, sexual orientation, professional, religious affiliation, mental and physical capabilities.
- Prepare to respond to public health emergencies and respond as directed.
- Assist with completing monthly/quarterly reports.
- Use individual, team, and organizational learning opportunities for personal and professional development.
Qualifications
PH Registered Nurse Level 1 - (Target hire-in salary - $51,811.56)
Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
PH Registered Nurse Level 2 - (Target hire-in salary - $58,547.06)
Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification
OR
Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year PHN experience AND completion of a PHN course within one year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Nurse license AND CPR certification.
PH Registered Nurse Level 3 - (Target hire-in salary - $66,168.17)
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND One year of PHN experience AND current Georgia license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse AND CPR certification
OR
Associate’s degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university AND Two years of PHN experience AND completion of a PHN course within One year of hire AND current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license AND CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Residents preferred for Emergency Preparedness Planning for the Health Department.
- Public Health Experience a plus.
