Description of Job

About The Work Unit:
The Office of Strategic Performance and Innovation (OSPI) at CDPHE is responsible for driving strategic improvements and innovation across the agency. It focuses on ensuring that CDPHE's operations, services, and digital assets align with best practices, regulatory requirements, and user-centered design principles. The Digital Accessibility Team within OSPI is tasked with ensuring compliance with HB21-1110, which mandates full digital accessibility for state agencies. This team works across CDPHE’s divisions to standardize accessibility practices, remediate non-compliant digital assets, and provide expertise and training to improve the overall accessibility of websites, documents, and other digital content.

What You Will Be Doing:
The Digital Accessibility Web Support Specialist, under the supervision of Digital Accessibility Program Administrator exists to ensure that CDPHE’s digital platforms are accessible, user-friendly, and compliant with state and federal accessibility standards (including HB21-1110). This role supports a more inclusive digital environment by conducting accessibility audits, leading website and content remediation, providing UI/UX enhancements, and offering training and consultation to CDPHE web teams. The position contributes directly to CDPHE’s legal compliance and commitment to digital equity for all Coloradans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

One (1) year of relevant experience in web design.

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education in graphic design, computer science, digital media and/or a related field, formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or relevant experience in web design equal to one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications and Essential Competencies:
The preferred experience, competencies and abilities are highly desirable for this position and will be considered in selecting the successful candidate:

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to create and/or develop new web content and pages--including graphics--as well as ability to populate and maintain websites
  • Prior experience developing, managing, and evaluating digital communications plans, including social media strategies and planning
  • Demonstrated ability to use multimedia platforms (e.g., graphics, videos, livestreaming, gifs)
  • Excellent problem solving ability along with the ability and motivation to develop creative solutions
  • Demonstrated proficiency working collaboratively with internal teams, technical professionals, and national, state, and community partners
  • Excellent organizational skills; the ability to set, track, and accomplish priorities, goals, and timetables to achieve maximum productivity, knowing the status of activities at all times
