Summary

  • Maintain fund balances and authorize expenditures for various departmental funds. 
  • Work independently on the maintenance of these funds under the direction of the Business Manager, Tarrant County Auditor's Office, and the Department of State Health Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, and the Department of Family and Protective Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Authorizes, maintains, follows up and coordinates the departmental purchasing functions.
  2. Ensures the maintenance of all fund expenditures and up-to-date balances are maintained for several divisions.
  3. Researches, analyzes, and assists divisions with setup and close out of annual budget encumbrances.
  4. Administers and submits bi-monthly revenue reports for departmental daily deposits of the Health Department revenue accounts.
  5. Assists with the budget forecasts for all funds.
  6. Ensures correct purchasing, audit, and financial procedures are followed on all expenditures.
  7. Assists with requested documents and information for internal and external auditors.
  8. Communicates and maintains good working relationships with other divisions, departments, and outside vendors.
  9. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Public Health Department as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements

TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor's degree or higher + Four (4) full-time years of work experience in detailed multiple fund ledgers, spreadsheets, purchasing, and/or monthly billing
OR
TO APPLY, must have an Associate's degree + Six (6) full-time years of work experience in detailed multiple fund ledgers, spreadsheets, purchasing, and/or monthly billing
OR
TO APPLY, must have a High School diploma or GED + Eight (8) full-time years of work experience in detailed multiple fund ledgers, spreadsheets, purchasing, and/or monthly billing.

Must have computer experience, preferably with SAP, and 10-key by touch.

Experience in governmental procurement procedures, accounting, Medicaid, and/or third-party reimbursement is highly desirable.

Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent must be able to drive a vehicle, read numbers close up and sit for periods of time at a PC.
