This is a grant funded position.

Position Overview:
The Registered Dietitian is responsible for providing high quality nutrition education to Harris County residents. The Dietitian will collaborate amongst the team effectively in order to continually improve programs geared toward nutrition,obesity reduction, and physical activity. The position responsibilities also include building and maintaining relationships with community partners.


Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provides engaging, evidence based nutrition and physical activity education to individuals and groups within Harris County. Including cooking and physical activity demonstrations.
  • Creates educational materials, presentations, and workshops tailored to the needs of specific populations.
  • Plans and performs outreach activities to increase program’s engagement and participation.
  • Attends community events and building partnerships with local organizations to promote nutrition education.
  • Keeps abreast of current research, approaches, theories, and practices related to nutrition and physical activity.
  • Collect and analyze program data to provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on progress and outcomes. 
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Dietetics, or related field from an ACEND (Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics) accredited College or University.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Registered Dietitian currently commissioned with the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR).
  • Valid TX Driver's License.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Ability to work well with public and staff members.

General Information

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time | grant-funded position. 
  • Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • Must be willing to flex work hours when required, including weekends. 
  • Expected to travel within Harris County jurisdiction.
Work Environment:
  • This job operates in both a professional office and community environment.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands:
  • This role requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.

Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
