This position is located in the Acadiana Area Human Services District – Tyler Behavioral Health Clinic-Children/Adolescent Services.


This position may be filled as a probational appointment or promotion of a permanent classified employee.  


This incumbent provides recovery and resiliency focused treatment and clinical/administrative supervision of subordinate licensed behavioral health staff within a service delivery program in the facility specifically for the delivery of services to approximately 275 children/adolescent clients.   All work is performed in accordance with the laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of all applicable licensing and governmental agencies and within the guidelines set by Acadiana Area Human Services District.  Duties are performed with broad review from the Mental Health Center Manager B.   Incumbent provides direct supervision over Professional Counselor and Social Worker staff.  


No Civil Service test score or assessment is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.


This AAHSD SITE is NHSC (National Health Service Corps) APPROVED.  QUALIFYING PROFESSIONAL COUNSELORS MAY BE ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) plus three years of counseling experience.

Provides professional clinical supervision through the review of cases to assist and guide subordinate social service staff in the development of skills in working with families, client groups, offenders, and especially with atypical and complex patients.
 
Determines work assignments, coordinates work flow and duty assignments, and evaluates work performance of subordinate social service staff.
 
Plans, organizes, and implements various social services programs. Coordinates the activities of the programs with other units and agencies.
 
Develops goals, program plans, and policies/procedures. Aids in determining staffing and resource needs for a social services unit.
 
Provides or arranges for training and development activities for subordinates.
 
May provide LPC supervision to candidates for professional counselor certification.
 
Provides expert testimony and advocacy representation on behalf of clients in court cases.
 
May provide limited direct casework services to a select group of highly complex cases.
