The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Data, Sytems & Evaluations team  is looking for a Health Data Analyst. Develop or modify established policies, guidelines, practices, etc.  Work with a high level of autonomy and discretion with a high level of responsibility for the data and recommendations due to the potential impact to the agency.

Requirements

  • Manipulate, clean, and combine datasets across years to standardize the variable layouts and value  formats;

  • Follow the routine schedule and procedures to query the database for quality control; to make the recommendations and generate the timely QC reports for the registration/field team; to check if the feedback has been applied to the database;
  • Work with multiple data sources to create data linkage, and generate aggregated data reports to meet customers’ needs;
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Analytical mind who understands data’s power and limitations;

  • Excellent problem-solving ability;

  • Proficiency with SAS, or R, or other analytical package;

  • SQL proficiency preferred;

  • Ability to manage time and workflow effectively;

  • Strong communication skills;

  • BS or MS in information systems, mathematics, statistics, or a related field of study; and/or 2 years of related work experience. 
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
  • Be aware that salary ranges specified reflect a minimum starting and top of range dollar amount. Actual rate per hour will be determined by evaluation of qualifications and skills of the individual and the availability of monies through budget and grants or by following DHRM rule.
  • Occasional in state, out of state, overnight and weekend travel may be required.
  • This position is currently a hybrid of both in-office and remote work days. Please note, a position's eligibility for remote work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.
